Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of heroes who will separate from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Questers and Planners tables.
